OUR MISSION

We aim for the One Hill yearbook will give the Class of 2024 a voice. They have a unique story to tell, and we want the whole campus to read about these new students who are a part of our community because they have had limited opportunities to meet them in class or in the cafeteria.

By asking the freshmen about their experience and by publishing their stories, we hope that they feel heard. We hope to give our SHC community a chance to reach out to this class on the Hill.

Ultimately, we believe this blog needs to be made not only to serve as documentation of a unique experience but to help give the freshmen class the sense of belonging and connection they desperately need.

GRACE CRAPPS

Grace Crapps is a current senior at Spring Hill College who is majoring in both Journalism and Theology. She grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and most of her childhood memories are centered around the dinner table. With two lawyers for parents, one could say dinner was always interesting. It was here that Grace would learn about her love for storytelling. In order to make sense of the debates from dinner or to understand the complex cases that were being discussed she and her siblings would have to listen, compile, and then organize the information to produce a story. Fifteen years later, she finds herself immersed in the field of Journalism at Spring Hill College. While being at Spring Hill she has served as both a reporter and Editor and Chief for the SpringHillian Newspaper. She has also found herself involved in several organizations such as: Phi Mu Fraternity, LEAP leaders, Student Government Association and Alpha Sigma Nu.

After graduation Grace plans to serve in Jesuit Volunteer Core for one year and work as an associate for Advocates for Children in New York City. After her gap year, she plans to attend law school.

For this seminar project, Grace will interview and write all the features of this year’s freshmen class.

ELEANOR GRINDINGER

Eleanor Grindinger was born in Dallas, Texas and came to Spring Hill because of the beautiful oak trees and friendly campus. She originally showed up wanting to be a counselor, but that all changed after she took Dr. Kotchemidova’s Introduction to Media Studies course her sophomore year. Within that class, Eleanor learned the power of the media. She recognized its ability to easily persuade and influence an audience. After realizing that, Eleanor found a passion for wanting to promote and cultivate positive attitudes and thought she could pursue this goal best with a degree in PR & Advertising. As Eleanor completes her last lap around the Hill she finds herself serving as the Lambda Pi Eta President, being a member of the PRCA and Phi Mu Fraternity.

After graduation, Eleanor hopes to start a career in the PR field where she can share her positive attitude and creative mindset with others. Specifically, she aims to find a job in social media, content marketing, web design, etc.

For this project, Eleanor has recruited participants, scheduled interviews, publicized the project through Instagram, and conducted the evaluation for success.
